Sensational Stobhill Sheds!

Work has started on two new £11 million acute mental health wards at Stobhill Hospital for our Partner NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.  One of the wards will be dedicated to adult acute in-patient care with the other being geared towards older adults with functional Mental Health issues.

As part of the Community Investment on this project, hub West’s construction partner, BAM Construction has generously donated 2 Portakabins to the Springburn Park Men’s Shed: a charity that provides support and resources for men of all ages that suffer with depression and loneliness.  The charity provides a safe and healthy space that men can utilise to learn new skills or just for somewhere to go to socialise that isn’t a licenced premise.

Originally the men had appealed for any broken pallets or timber off cuts that they could collect however BAM has been able to refurbish and donate surplus cabins.  When Arc-Tech, another of hub West’s supply chain partners, heard about the donation they offered to link the existing power to the sheds and cabins.

Michael Hanna from BAM Construction said:  “I’m proud that we could help this fantastic charity by giving them these cabins, so that more men suffering with depression and loneliness have a place to go!”

Iain Marley from hub West Scotland said; “This is a fantastic demonstration of hub West’s commitment to sustainable development and maximising benefits to local communities and we commend BAM and Arc-Tech for their exceptional contributions.”
